Checked 26 September 2026, after Meta Connect. Availability, prices and country lists change quickly, so the date on each claim is part of the claim. This article is general information, not legal advice.
Meta Muse is not a single product. Meta Superintelligence Labs uses the name for a family of AI models, a coding tool, an open-weights download, a consumer AI agent and a promised upgrade inside Ads Manager. That is why a search for “Muse” can return a glasses demo, an API model card and an advertising update on the same page. This guide separates them, says which ones a UK business can use today, and explains the one that matters most for online shops.
The answer in brief
Muse Spark reasons and writes code. Muse Image makes and edits pictures. Muse Glimmer runs on your own hardware. Muse Voice Transcribe turns speech into text. On its own, “Muse” now usually means Meta’s personal AI agent, which launched in the United States on 8 September 2026 and in Canada on 18 September. It is not available in the UK or the EU, and Meta has given no date.
For advertisers, Muse Image in Advantage+ creative is still a promise Meta made on 7 July. For online shops, the agent matters before it arrives here. Meta plans to earn a fee on the purchases the agent makes, and Shopify already shares eligible stores’ catalogues with Meta by default. If you run a Shopify store that sells to North America, check your settings this week.
The key takeaway: decide product by product, not on “Muse” as a whole, and trust what your own account shows over what the keynote said.
Why does the same word keep appearing?
Muse started as a model brand. Meta introduced Muse Spark in April 2026. July brought Muse Image and a preview of Muse Video. August added Muse Glimmer and Muse Code. September added Muse Voice Transcribe, Spark 1.3 and then a consumer app also called Muse. At Meta Connect on 23 and 24 September, Meta attached more to the same word: Muse on its glasses, an email address for the agent, and a list of retail and payment partners.
Developer pages mean the models. Advertiser pages mean a model that may one day sit behind Advantage+ image generation. Consumer coverage means the app. Two facts cut through it. A tool in the Meta AI app is not automatically in your ad account. A tool that is live in the United States is not automatically live in the UK.

What can a UK business use today?
Meta AI: yes. The generative extras already listed in Ads Manager: often, depending on your account, campaign type and category. Muse Image as a named model inside Advantage+: not on any Meta page we can find. The Muse agent: no.
That is a duller picture than the Connect keynote, and it is the one the documentation supports.
For organic social pictures, test Meta AI’s image tools against whatever you use now and keep the output you would actually publish. Meta has not said whether UK users get Muse Image inside Meta AI, so judge the result, not the label. Do not put a client’s face, a staff photo or an identifiable customer into any generator without a lawful basis.
For a reasoning or coding model, Spark 1.3 is on Meta’s API. Compare it with the models you already pay for on your own tasks, the way we approach GPT-6 Astra and Grok 4.7. A vendor chart is not a trial. Muse Voice Transcribe is worth testing if you transcribe sales calls or interviews, but treat Meta’s accuracy figures as vendor figures until you try your own recordings.
Can you use the Muse agent in the UK?
No, not yet. Meta launched Muse in the United States on 8 September on iOS, Android and the web, and it reached Canada on 18 September. As of 25 September it was available only in the US and Canada. Meta’s help centre says only that Muse is “in limited testing” and not “available in all locations yet”. It gives no UK or EU date.
The agent works in its own cloud computer, which Meta calls the Muse Secure VM, with a browser of its own. A person gives it access to services such as email and a payment method, then asks it to draft, book or buy. Meta says Muse “checks with the person before sensitive actions like sending an email or making a purchase” and “doesn’t share a person’s conversations or the data in their VM with Meta’s ad systems”. Meta calls it “free for most of what people need”, with paid plans for heavier use.
At Connect, Meta named retail and payment partners for the agent, including Walmart, Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Wayfair, Expedia, Instacart, PayPal and Shop Pay. Nothing announced at Connect touched Ads Manager. Our Meta Connect 2026 recap sets out what the event means for UK Shopify stores and Meta Ads plans.
For teams planning agents of their own, one earlier episode is worth knowing. In August Meta disclosed that during pre-release testing of Muse Spark 1.1, a misconfigured environment let the model reach a real website, where it changed the site’s database. Meta said the fault lay in the test set-up. An agent with a browser can do real things, so give it the least access the task needs, and ask any supplier how actions are checked before they reach the internet.
What does the Muse agent mean for a UK online shop?
Meta has said how it expects Muse to pay. At Connect, Mark Zuckerberg said Muse would be free for a huge number of tokens “with the expectation that, over time, we will profit by taking a small fee from transactions” (Computer Weekly). That makes the agent a shopping channel before it is an advertising one.
Shopify has already wired itself in. Its changelog of 8 September says: “Your products are shared with Meta by default through Shopify Catalog.” Shopify’s help centre says Meta direct checkout is on by default for eligible stores, is shown only to customers in the United States, Canada or Mexico, and carries no fee beyond standard payment processing. Shopify’s supplemental terms still allow it to charge fees on some AI channels. You remain the merchant of record, so fulfilment, returns and customer service stay with you.
Does this apply to a UK store? Shopify’s rules for the Meta channel are about where your customers are, not where your business is based. Its requirements say you “must sell to customers in the United States, Canada, or Mexico”, and Meta’s direct checkout is shown only to customers there. Shopify’s Google channel, by contrast, says “your store must be based in the United States”. The Meta page sets no rule on where the store is based. In June, Shopify’s UK blog described its AI channels as “globally available to businesses selling to US buyers” (Shopify, 18 June 2026). On Shopify’s written rules, then, a UK store that sells to North America appears to qualify, and a store that sells only in the UK does not. Shopify has not said this about Meta in so many words, and we have not seen it in a UK admin, so open Sales channels > Agentic and check whether Meta is listed. If it is, make the choice deliberately:
- Catalogue access and direct checkout are separate switches. To change either, first turn off “Allow Shopify to manage for me”. While that setting is on, Shopify also enrols you automatically in new AI channels.
- Switching off catalogue access can take up to seven days to take effect, and it does not stop agents finding your products by crawling your site.
- On direct checkout orders, Shopify passes the customer’s name, email address, phone number and address to the channel. Check that your privacy notice covers it.
- Shopify says custom pixels and Google Analytics do not fire on these checkouts, so these sales will not show up in your usual ad attribution.
Amazon made the opposite choice. On 20 September it blocked Muse, telling users that “continued access by an unauthorized AI agent violates Amazon’s Conditions of Use” (GeekWire). Allow, block or partner is now a decision for your website too, not only for the platforms.
Whatever you decide, the groundwork is the same. The Small Business Commissioner’s agentic commerce guidance (22 June 2026) is a sensible UK starting point: accurate product data, prices, delivery and returns information that software can read and trust. The same work helps with AI search generally, which we cover in our GEO guide.
Is Muse Image in Facebook and Instagram ads yet?
Not confirmed. On 7 July Meta said that “in the coming weeks, advertisers and agencies will be able to tap into Muse Image through Advantage+ creative” (Meta Newsroom). We found no later Meta statement that the rollout is complete in any country, and Connect did not mention Ads Manager.
You may already see “Image generation (AI)” among the Advantage+ creative enhancements when you build a single image or video ad. Meta’s Help Centre describes that feature without naming Muse. It is not available for Advantage+ app, sales or catalogue campaigns. Meta also says advertisers in financial services, pharma and health, housing, employment and credit, and social issues, elections or politics, “along with certain countries, may not have immediate access to all generative AI features”. Ads Manager does not show the model name, so the only check is to open a test ad and look.
A better picture is not a better ad. If you test, keep one real photograph as the control, change one thing per variant, switch off the enhancements you are not testing, and judge on qualified leads and sales rather than click-through alone.
The rules sit with the advertiser, however the image was made. In the UK the ASA says “the advertiser remains responsible for any output used” (ASA, 11 June 2026), so a generated artisan, clinic or before-and-after picture is a claim that needs evidence. In the EU, Article 50 of the AI Act has required businesses since 2 August 2026 to disclose realistic AI-generated or manipulated images, audio and video (“deep fakes”) in a clear and distinguishable way. Meta’s “AI info” label sits behind a menu, which is not the same as a mark on the creative.
What should a UK business do this month?
If you run Meta ads, check Advantage+ creative in Ads Manager. If image generation is there, run a small test against a real photograph. If it is missing, you are not late: the named Muse rollout has not been confirmed.
If you run a Shopify store that sells to the US, Canada or Mexico, open Sales channels > Agentic and decide on purpose whether Meta should have your catalogue and your checkout.
If you sell online on any platform, make product titles, prices, stock, delivery and returns information accurate and consistent, and decide whether you want AI agents buying from your site.
If you are tempted by Meta One, buy it for more organic image generation if you need that. It will not change your paid social results, because it does not sit in Ads Manager.
If you have a developer job, test Spark 1.3 or Voice Transcribe on your own work. Otherwise, ignore the version numbers.
And keep photographing the real business: the rooms, the vans, the staff and the products. Generated backgrounds get cheaper every quarter. A picture of your place does not.
AIWIZ verdict
The models are real. The agent is real in North America. The Ads Manager upgrade is still a July sentence on a September page.
For a UK business, the useful Muse work this autumn is not in Ads Manager. It is in your shop settings and your product data, because Meta plans to earn money when its agent buys, and Shopify has already opened the door for eligible stores. Separate the names, test the image tools you can actually see, and decide on purpose whether software should be allowed to shop with you.
